The problem
Product teams were losing feature requests across email threads, Intercom chats, and random Slack DMs. There was no lightweight, open-source place to collect, dedupe, and prioritise customer ideas without buying a heavyweight suite.
Approach
- Built the backend in Go for a single tiny binary that self-hosts on a $5 VPS.
- Designed a crowd-voting UX so the loudest customer doesn't automatically win, the most-wanted one does.
- Added SSO, moderation, and status workflows (planned / started / completed) that map to real roadmap ceremonies.
- Kept the surface deliberately small, no bloat, just capture → vote → decide → close the loop.
Results
- Adopted by security-conscious teams that need feedback tooling inside their own infra.
- Runs on a $5 VPS thanks to the single-binary Go backend.
- Praised for shipping only the features that matter, without the usual SaaS bloat.
